Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

i live in nh and only have a couple of mortgage payments left everyone keeps telling me to keep my mortgage so i'm safe from law suits what should i do to protect myself.

If you just have a couple of mortgage payments left, it means that you likely have lots of equity and your home would be an asset that would be subject to an attachment.

Even with a mortgage, your house is still subject to attachment by creditors. However, what problems do you anticipate? Plans can be developed to address most concerns, but often, there is only a small risk, which may generally be covered by adequate insurance. I suggest that your "worries" are more than just the house and you would likely benefit from meeting with an attorney to discuss the overall concerns and develop methods to address them. In many ceases a basic estate plan can address some of these issues. In other cases, and depending upon the value of assets, a trust might be appropriate.
