Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

Get name off mobile home

My name is on a mobile home as a co payer. I haven't

lived there for 3 months now and my ex fiance lives

there. His name is first on the loan. Come to find out

today I get a certified letter stating that we owe almost

2,000 dollars for the morgage. He told me that it is all

up to date and he has been paying it but obviously not. I

was wondering what I can do. They said that we have

thirty one days to pay it in full or it could be taken. I need

to know if there is anything I can do to get my name off

and not be held responsible.

It depends on what you signed but normally a co-signer is liable for the full amount if the the first signer does not pay. Frankly, there is little you can do except pay the bank to keep your credit clean and bring a legal action against your ex-fiance for the amounts you pay.

It is usually better to sell the home on the open market than let it go to foreclosure.
