Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire
Are mortgage loans private?
I know my exhusband's wife is a Real Estate Attorney and I know she has looked into my mortgage and tried to advise me on it. Is it legal for her to look into my financials without my permission?

If you don't want your ex-husband's spouse to provide you with any advice, you may wish to advise her that you do not need her advice and would prefer that she not meddle.
As Atty. Dorner noted, the promissory note which you signed (assuming that it was not the same promissory note that you and your husband signed) is private, but the mortgage is not. Some information can be derived from that document, which is recorded at the registry of deeds.

A mortgage is a public document recorded at the country registry of deeds in the county where the property is located. In addition to the mortgage, you signed a Promissory Note. The Promissory Note is generally not recorded and would be a private document.
