Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

Purchase of rental home security deposit transferable???

We have been in a lease for 1 year. The owner decided to sell. July 1 2002 lease ended. july 2, 2002 papers were signed for purchase. Do not know who new owners are or where to send rent. Lease is up. Are we considered ''Tenant at will?'' What is the law on paying rent when not predetermained with landlord? Can we pay weekly until new lease is signed? We also never received our security deposit back ($600) Will it transfer or should we get it back??

Re: Purchase of rental home security deposit transferable???

Your rights are determined in part by what your previous lease said regarding holding over after the lease ends. If it says nothing then the monthly rent generally stays the same. If you paid on a monthly basis you are a month to month tenant and as long as you pay the rent, you must receive at least 30 days notice to move.

The security deposit is usually transferred to the new owner but when you move you should get it back plus interest.
