Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire
Signed lease has incorrect from / to lease dates
I signed a rntal lease that is supposed to be for 1 year from Jan 5th 2002 to Dec 31,2002 but the lease has the dates
Jan 5 2002 to Dec 31, 2003.
Is the lease still valid?
The lanlord acknoledged that the lease has the incorrect dates and wants us to sign a corrected lease.
I am exploring he possibilty of renting a different house as we are unhappy in this location.
Can the landlord force us to resign the lease?
Can the landlord threatin to hold us to the 2 year lease?
What are options?

Re: Signed lease has incorrect from / to lease dates
If it was just a technical error and neither one of you intended a two year lease then he cannot hold you to two years. You can't be forced to sign a corrected lease but if you don't he may try to enforce the two year lease and that may be costly if you have to go to court to vindicate yourself. You originally were willing to sign a year lease so why not do what you originally intended?
