if a spouse in a marriage has an asset in his name, does that person have the right to sell the asset without the consent of the wife and dispose of the property without spousal compensation?

If the asset is personal property in the name of the owner, then the owner may sell it. If the asset is real estate, then the answer is "it depends." If the asset is real estate and is the marital residence, then the consent of the spouse is required. There are a few other possible "ifs" in the analysis and it would likely be to your advantage to consult with an attorney where all the details and circumstances may be examined to determine the full extent of your rights.
