Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Hampshire

Speeding on highway led to additional charge upon search?!

My husband was recently arrested. Strange part is, I did not see anywhere on his papers the actual speed he was going, and the first thing listed is poss. of a controlled substance. He had a personal amt. of marijuana in his glove box, did the trooper have the right to search there even though he was being pulled over for speeding? Also, is it common for them to call pot a controlled substance? It really sounds worse. He has to appear in court in a couple of months, and I am just wondering what might happen to him. He hasn't had any motor vehicle violations since he's been driving, but might have somethingon his record from 8 years ago, when he was a juvenille.. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated, as I am not sure if we should get a lawyer or not. We really cannot afford a retainer right now, but his fines are probaly going to be up there...is it possible he might lose his license, or even worse, have to do jail time?

Re: Speeding on highway led to additional charge upon search?!

Even a 'personal amount' of marijuana counts as a controlled dangerous substance under both federal and state law, and possession carries serious consequences if convicted, including lost access to federal financial aid for education. If your husband wishes to challenge the search of his vehicle, he should retain an attorney to assist him in this.
