Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Hampshire

speeding ticket

When I got a speeding ticket, this attorney send me a big letter with video and letters etc from the police dept. I went on to represent myself at court and won this ticket. This attorney whom I never utilised sends me a $400 bill. Let me know my further course of action.

Re: speeding ticket

It sounds like it could be a misunderstanding, and the attorney certainly made a mistake not to sign a written fee agreement with you.

However, your agreement to pay a flat fee means that you owe the flat fee - whether you win or lose your case. If your attorney provided legal arguments, video and other written materials in the preparation of your case, and then you decided not to use him/her, that does not prevent you from having an obligation to pay him or her.

You should contact the attorney directly and see if something can be worked out.
