Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Hampshire

Name Change

In the state of NH does a minor child have to appear in court when the parent is petitioning a name change for said minor? Are there any age restrictions in these laws?

Re: Name Change

Generally the minor would go to court. Occasionally the judge may have a question or wish to actually see the child. This is very much dependent upon the overall situation, the age of the child and reason for the name change. You may wish to inquire at the Office of the Register of Probate. Some counties have slightly different procedures than others.

As always, this is a general comment and should not be considered as specific advice since I have only limited information.
