Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Hampshire

my dad passed and left 4 children 40,000 each. We were told the money was ours the day my dad dies. Funds are being handled by financial advisor,funds were sitting in regular bank account. How long should it take to recieve funds ?

The answer depends upon how the account was titled. Was it joint tenancy? Was it transfer on death? Was it subject to probate? Were you named as a beneficiary of the account? It would be best to inquire of the financial adviser, and if that person can't give you a direct answer you should consult with an attorney experienced in probate matters.
