Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Hampshire
Inherited acreage
My brothers and I, and three aunts have inherited some property from my great grandmother. The will states that my aunt #1 was to inherit a 14 acre piece of property. Aunts #2 and #3, myself, and my three brothers were given a 27 acre piece to split in thirds (my brothers and I split my dad's share) The 27 acre piece named in the will turned out to be closer to 54 acres. In order to save on costs for survey, reportedly, my aunt #1 divided all of the property equally among all of us. Seven ways. As far as I know, it passed probate. Was this legal. Now my brothers and I want to sell, but my aunt #1 does not. Before we pursue sales of the property, we want to make sure that the probate was done correctly and that we actually own 1/7th of all the property.
