Life insurance is a private contract between the company and the insured to pay a sum of money to a named beneficiary. Generally it does not go through probate. There are execptions to the general rule and it would likely be worthwhile for you to meet with an attorney to review all the facts and circumstances to see if there is anything outside normal bounds in your particular case.
