how many school hours are needed to make an officail school day
how many school hours are needed for a day to be counted as an official day by the state. for example is a four hour day excluding lunch long enough to be counted by the state department of education

You need to check your state regulations. It varies from state to state and it's different sometimes for elementary and high school.
