Legal Question in Disability Law in New Jersey

Computer eyewear

My question is this: I work at a job where I must use a computer about 90% of the day. My eyes have begun to suffer terribly as a result of this. My local eye doctor tells me there is a new lense on the market to eliminate computer eyestrain. Can you tell me what the ADA's position is on this, as it is obviously a condition brought on by a situation which is work related. More precisely, who should have to pay for these glasses?

Workplace Accomodation with Americans With Disabilities Act

If your firm has 15 or more employees you are covered by the Act. There is no simple answer to whether or not the corrective glasses ought to be paid for by you or the company. It depends on how much of a hardship it would be to give you the glasses out of their pocket. It would seem to me that it would be shortsighted, no pun intended, for them to wait until you have serious eye problems that are covered by workers' compensation.
