How long does a non-profit service organization (volunteer rescue squad) have to hold onto their meeting minutes?

it depends on what is in the minutes. usually, you want to have them to show what the group did, so that IRS is satisfied. there are other reasons to hang onto the records.

no hard and simple rule. minimum seven years is often recommended. the charitable groups I am involved in try to keep the minutes permanently. one group has minutes back to 1991, I think.
