Legal Question in Banking Law in New Jersey
Joint Account - Court Order
My husband and I have a joint checking and savings account - we live in NJ. We recently had a hold placed on our savings account and a court order based on an old debt from my husband during a previous marriage took what little savings we had ( $4000.00). My husband is not employed and all our income stems from me - can I appeal this decision? If I open a single account, can they still do this because we are married?

Re: Joint Account - Court Order
If the debt is his personal debt and the money is all yours, you can oppose the turnover of funds by filing the appropriate papers with the court.
