Legal Question in Banking Law in New Jersey
Use of Legal Name
If a divorced daughter (still using her divorced last name after over 20 years) puts her name on her aging mother's bank accounts, may she use her maiden name, or must she use her divorced name that she uses for everything else? May she sign checks from her mother's account using her own maiden name?

Re: Use of Legal Name
She should use her legal name. In this case, that seems to be her married name notwithstanding the divorce.
