Stolen checks
A person claims he has one of my reported stolen checks. He states that he paid amount of check to an individual, and the check bounced. (I closed the account). He claims that his lawyer says I am liable for that amount. Is that true

Re: Stolen checks
If blank checks were stolen and someone else forged your name, you are not liable. If you wrote a check and signed it and that check was stolen, you might be liable to pay a "holder in due course" who has no notice of the theft. There are various scenarios with different results. You should talk to a lawyer about the specifics in your case and get some advice on how to proceed.
