Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New Jersey
I'm considering bankruptcy, do to the economy and an illness that required surgery. I've been struggling for 16 months, and can't seem to catch up. I"m currently behind 1 month in my rent. If this goes to an eviction, can I place the owners of the apartment on the petition for bankruptcy along with the other creditors.

The landlord is a creditor, like any other creditor, so yes, you can put them on the petition. The bankruptcy filing will also at least temporarily stay the eviction. Hopefully, you will be able to keep up with your post-filing rent. Otherwise, the landlord may seek relief from the stay so that they can go back and evict you.
