Re: Creditors

If the creditor was properly included in your Schedules filed with your petition, then he/she/it presumably received notice of your filing from the court, and thus the debt would presumably have been discharged unless it was nondischargeable as a matter of law or deemed so by order of the bankruptcy court. Assuming that the debt was properly scheduled and was discharged in your bankruptcy, you probably should contact the credit reporting agencies and alert them to show the debt as having been discharged in bankruptcy.

Re: Creditors

And always will. Think of your credit report as a history book. You cannot change history, but you can add to it. This is the same as your credit report. Even though the debt may continue to show, so will your bankruptcy. Thus, you will need to only show that the debt was included on the petition to establish that it was discharged. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. You may want to contact an attorney before you take any further action to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. Re: Creditors

The creditor/debt will continue to appear on your report for up to 10 years. The important thing is to make sure that the creditor/debt shows up as included in bankruptcy on your credit report. Follow the instructions given to you with the copy of your credit report to dispute how the debt is listed. If you need more info or help, feel free to call me at 973-659-3400.
