DWI surcharges

I have 2 dwi's in nj i recieved almost ten years ago. is there any way that i can erase this debt by declaring bankruptcy?I am ready to drive again ,and i have addressed my alcohol problem.I have been sober for 3 years.Please get back to me .Thank You

Yes. DWI surcharges may be discharged in bankruptcty. The only drawback is that the DMV always reserves the option to restore or not restore your driving privileges. Bankruptcy gets rid of the debt so they may not come after you with a wage garnishment or judgment/lien against your property or bank accounts. Whether you will automatically be restored is something you may or may not have to fight out later with dmv. call 201-646-9799 for consultation.
