Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New Jersey

Can I keep my house

I have just been sued. I have good credit now but I will not pay and I plan on filing for chapter 7. I would like to buy a house before I ruin my credit and to increase my debt to qualify for chapter 7. I understand that there is a certain amount of property I can keep. Can you tell me if this is a good idea, can they attach my house even if I wish to reaffirm my mortgage, and what do you need to qualify for a chapter 7? Thank you.

Re: Can I keep my house

If you have been sued for a debt owed your credit is already ruined. You do not need to increase your debt to qualify for chapter 7. There is a great deal of property and assets that you may keep (untouched by creditors) in a Ch. 7. NO, creditors cannot take your house if you reaffirm the mortgage. But it sounds as if you still haven't bought the house. I think you need to come see me so I get a better idea of what you want out of this. Call me: 201-646-9799. or go to www.gomezlegal.com
