You are misunderstanding how limitation law works. The limitation period went from the time the contract was made (or the last payment on a credit card) until the date the lawsuit was filed. If you are worrying about garnishment, that sounds like there already is a judgement because you can't garnish without having a judgment against you first. Howver, there may be a way to stop the wage garnishment if you already are being garnished, but it would not have anything to do with the statute of limitations.
