Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New Jersey
Unreal
My ex-husband owes me $34,500.00 in arrears. I was just made aware by Cumberland Co. child support that he is filling chapter 13 bankruptcy. I want to know if he can go bankrupt on the money he owes us? He has never really paid support for any long period of time.
I need the support, I have been out of work for over two years. And my ex knows that I am having a hard time supporting our three teens. Someone help me Please... Can he claim chapter 13 on the arrears? Thank you for your time.

You need to file a proof of claim with the court. Object to confimration of any plan proposed that doesn't address the support obligation arrears. Support obligations are not dischargeable in the bankruptcy even if your ex obtains a discharge under Chapter 13.
