That sure is a nuisance, to say the least. I would make a written demand to the owner of the company explaining the problem, the efforts you've made to have it corrected and the lack of response. Always keep a copy of any legal correspondence you send. I also recommend sending it with proof of mailing, such as certified return receipt or a Certificate of Mailing. You are under no obligation to provide callers with the correct number and if they will not fix the problem at your request, then the money they are wasting on advertising a wrong number if the potential customers are not reaching the company in question through your kindness should be sufficient incentive for them to correct their advertisement. Best of luck to you.

Re: Advertisement for a company has my home number instead of theirs

I had the exact same problem over 20 years ago. I bought a home and got a telephone number. An imported carpet company previously had the number but moved. My number was listed in the telephone book and even on their carpet tags! I called them and wrote to them and was always promised it would be taken care of. After a while, I actually visited the business and saw they intended to continue to have my number until their advertising materials ran out. From that point forward I always referred every one of their callers to a competitor down the road!

I hope this helps!
