I will base this response only on what you have stated in your posting. There may be other important facts involved here which would change my advice; I will only know that after I have talked to you in detail.

You have a huge problem, and you need an attorney to get you out. The landlord may try to keep the equipment, make you alone pay the entire rest of the rent, or both. You may be facing thousand and tens of thousands of dollars owed.

It also occurs to me that the landlord and his brother your rotten partner may have cooked this up together in some fashion. You may be on the receiving end of a very bad deal indeed.
