business license
Do I need a license to do handyman work in new jersey? I am not a contractor.
I am registered and have a legal trade name in new jersey.
I am also a resident of new jersey.

If you do anything relating to home improvements, you need to register with the State and get a license number. Follow Dan's link to the State for registration information.

Yes, you need a license. It costs $90 and requires you to have liability insurance. You should consider esgtablishing a Limited Liability Company as a shield for your personal assets. Check out my web site for more information www.taxesq.com
