Can a company require you to room with another employee while on business travel?

These days it is customary to provide employees who travel with their own rooms however, provided that mixed-gender rooms are not an issue, the law doesn't require it. This is a gray area and a lot depends on the circumstances. For example, if an employee is new, he/she might be expected to adapt to whatever travel policy the employer has or quit. However, if the employee has been with the company for many years and the policy is new and seems to be directed only at one employee or a small class of employees, then the practice might be considered to be actionable.
