Any attorney will say you should contact your state's electrical licensing board to determine the proper procedure to follow. Here in California, it is called an RMO (Responsible Managing Owner) which means the contractor gets an equity interest in the business in exchange for putting his or her license under the company. Negotiate the best deal possible. Consult with an attorney in your area for specific negotiating advice.

I recommend that you have a written contract that covers the terms of this agreement. Your lawyer will want to include your ability to supervise and inspect the work without interference and with pay. You should also be insured at the cost of the company and indemnified for any losses due to suits. Protections need to be included in the contract so that you are sure that the company is meeting its obligations. Compensation is a matter that requires a better understanding of your situtation. Consult your lawyer. My firm handles matters of this type. If I can be of further help to you, call or email. See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
