What constitutes a legal agreement?

I recently sent a two paragraph agreement to another party, agreeing to pay a jointly assessed fee in exchange for being held harmless by this party. I signed it letter, then faxed it to the person. I haven't heard anything from them, though its been a month. I now have other means of allievating the problem. Would the fax copy of my signature hold up in court? Can I now, somehow negate that document or can she hold it for years, then decide to sign? If, yes, how?

It sounds like you made an offer that has not been accepted. You can withdraw the offer in the same manner. However, I would also send it by regular and certified mail return receipt to proof the withdrawal. A letter from an attorney would have more effect, but is not totally necessary.
