Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Contract Dispute
I purchased an internet business from the owner of a dropshipping company (lives in FL). The agreement was that the seller would provide my dropshipping services for the website business and I would own the website. After the sale was complete and everything was transferred, 2-3 weeks later I found many other sites emerging that look exactly the same. Apparently theses website were able to circumvent the sale and contact the buyer directly to provide them dropshipping services. These websites are virtually identical in appearance to mine and also are using the same marketing methods. The same dropshipping company is supplying the items for all of these websites. I feel that the seller violated our non-compete and this is unfair that I purchased the business and others were able to start one for free. Also, the sites are using the same layout as well as images as me.I have the contract we both signed available as well. I am looking to get the cost of the business that I paid returned as I no longer want anything to do with it.

Re: Contract Dispute
A lot depends on what you mean by "own the website" and what the contract says about that. If you own the copyright, you may be in a good position go after both your seller and the other site operators.

Re: Contract Dispute
You raise many issues here and the remedies available to you depend on the terms of your sales agreement. Your next step is to consult with an attorney who will review the contract (or contracts as there may be more than one) and discuss your options with you. Once you know your options and the potential costs involved, you will be in a better position to decide what to do. Please feel free to call my office and arrange an appointment if you would like to discuss this further.
