Re: corperations

First, a Limited Liability Company is referred to as a LLC not a Corporation. Secondly, you can file an "Alternative Name" with the Dept of Revenue. Because 3 initial names are in great use, you may have trouble actually changing the name. Also, you do not want to be confused (and liable for) another business.

You need a good business and tax attorney to help you set up your business right!

Re: corperations

It is easier to file a certificate to use an alternate name. That permits you to use both names. The only administrative difficulty is that alternate names expire. You either have to remember to renew the alternate name or go through the process of making the change complete before the end of the term.

The name "EDC LLC" is probably not available. There is an E.D.C., Inc already registered. Without actually trying to register the alternate name, it is not possible to be certain whether the State will reject the name that you propose but it should be rejected because of the similarity.
