Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Just out of curiousity???
Could I be sued if I was to open a nail salon in the next town over from where I work...and 3 of the 6 girls want to follow me? Or could they be sued? My current boss may have to close if that happened. What are the consequences for me? None of us has signed a contract.

Do you have an employee agreement with your employer?
Did you sign a confidentiality agreement with the employer?
You can be sued if you violate the agreement.

Then you should be good to go. If no one signed anything, there is likely no way they can hold you to a non-compete. NOW, if you are intentionally interfering with their business in some way, that can be a tort.
