Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Defunct LLC
Disolved our LLC in 2002 during divorce. (husband and wife were members.) All taxes paid in full to close the business. Appparently 13-099 balance was taken to court in 5/2006 and the defunct business had a judgement placed on it. I was never notifed previously, but today received a notice of a 13-099 balance from the LLC. Am I personally liable?

Re: Defunct LLC
You should not be personally liable for debts of the LLC. I can't tell you more because I don't understand what you mean by "13-099 balance."

Re: Defunct LLC
Traditionally, the LLC format gives a member freedm from liabilities. However, there are exceptions to this, especially if there are taxes due and/or the debt was personally guaranteed. Any "responsible" person to collect and pay such taxes can be held personally liable, under IRS and State regulations. More information is needed to provide a full response.
