Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Department of Treasury
A gentleman and woman stopped by my mother's house with a Treasury badge asking for me. They stated they wanted to meet me in person to ask me questions about a business I used to work at over 2 years ago for a period of about 3 weeks. This makes no sense and I am not sure if I should meet with them or not. I was advised to ask for legal advice as to not incriminated myself by answering their questions. What should I do?

Your exposure, if any, would most likely be connected to a criminal matter. I suggest that you re-post your question in the criminial law forum.
My guess (and it is just a guess) based on the short time that you worked for the business is that the investigation is not of you. However, you still have rights to be protected. Ask a lawyer who does criminal work.

"If you see double, you're in trouble!" Two people from the IRS usually means a criminal investigation. Say NOTHING to them. IMMEDIATELY call a tax lawyer to review the matter. DO NOT DELAY!
