Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Employer reduces my hours for part-time job
I should probably start off by saying that I am only 17 and turn 18 on the 31st. I have a great part time job and asked if I could get 30-40 hours in the summer for college money, he said yes. Before I received almost 20 hours a week and was fine with that, now, he has reduced my hours to 15 and said that I will stay there through the summer. I can't get another job because all the summer jobs are filled up by now can he legally cut my hours with such short notice? Is there anyway I can get around this?

Re: Employer reduces my hours for part-time job
You are an at will employee. He can fire you if he doesn't like the color of your shirt. Welcome to the real world. This could be due to a loss of earnings, him not being happy with your work product or he likes the other people better. I suggest you sit down with him and talk it over.
