Form of business

I am starting my own consultancy and wondered whether it is better to become an S corp. or an LLC. Please advise.

Re: Form of business

Most likely, you should set-up a Limited Liability Company. My web site has a free program which will help you select the correct form of business entity: http://www.taxesq.com/choice.html

Please call me at (856) 665-2121 to discuss this further.

Re: Form of business

You can form an LLC under state law, which is a much simpler entity to manage than a corp. in New Jersey and still elect to be taxed as as S corp. which has certain advantages over taxation as a partnership/individual, which is the other option. Many attorneys and accountants are unaware of this so refer to PLR 9853045.
