Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Is there a format of release letter from from non-compete agreement?

Hi,

I am working for an IT consulting comapny. At the time of joining it, I had a non-compete agreement with the company. Contract says not work for any clients of consulting company for 2 years if I resign. At this moment, I am considering joining one of consulting company's client and so, I would like to know what kind of release letter (format) I should get from my consulting company that I won't have any legal trouble in the future regarding non-compete agreement or any?

Thanks,

Jack

There is no standard format for a release. However, you should have an attorney draft it for you to ensure that the release is comprehensive and not limited. A limited release can present problems in the future. If your former employer (the consulting company) has already drafted a release and is asking you to sign theirs, you should have your own attorney review it first, for the same reasons. Please feel free to call my office for an appointment if you would like to review this matter further.
