Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
I have a franchise. I took my girlfriend to training in case I get sick. they made her sign a non-disclosure but not a non-compete. We are split now. Can she open her own similar business in my area? What if she signed a non compete how far away would she have to be?

A lawyer needs to review what she signed. How can the question be answered without reading the agreement
I agree with Savyon's advice. There's also an issue of who can enforce whatever your girlfriend signed. It was probably between her and the franchise company, and you would have no standing to enforce that agreement as you were not a party to it.
