You need a lawyer's help with this.

You really want to have a form that you will fill in when you quote the job, that the homeowner signs.

Go see a lawyer. You might be able to charge interest, but you need to get a lawyer's help.

If you would like, give me a call; I am in Hackensack (northern New Jersey). I will be happy to discuss

this with you; a brief telephone consultation will be free.

I agree with Mr. Davies, you need a lawyer to consult with to get your business affairs in order. As a lawyer who represents contractors in criminal matters, I can assure that a little money spent with a lawyer to get your affairs in order is money well spent.
