Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Legal entity

When starting a web based business, which type of company should I form (corp, LLC, DBA, etc)?

And can I use this one formation to umbrella different websites with different site names but under that same one company & bank acct?

Re: Legal entity

If you are going to be doing any type of real business, I suggest you get a good business lawyer to work with you. I only do business litigation so I can't help you, but I can probably refer you to a lawyer if needed me to.

Re: Legal entity

You definitely want to establish either a Limited Liability Company or a corporation. Usually, a LLC is best. The specific facts of your business will determine the choice of business entity. My web site, http://www.taxesq.com addresses many of these issues in more detail.

I hope this helps!

The answer also depends upon the nature of your web-based business, and the sort of risk and exposure you're likely to assume. You may be interested in an instructional DVD I recently released on the legal considerations of starting a web-based business. You can find details of it at www.informationlaw.com.
