Starting a NJ business is not difficult and there will be little difference from any other business just because you are selling "nutraceuticals". The problem that you will have is with the FDA. "Nutraceuticals" are normally regulated in the USA as dietary supplements. However, claims that they are intended for use in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease will cause the FDA to treat your products as subject to regulation as drugs with all that entails. Even if you make no claims at all, the claims that the manufacturer makes will be attributed to you if you are using a tradename for the product. If you are being recruited by someone into this business, I would advise you to be very cautions, conduct a thorough investigation, and be sure that your contracts are airtight on issues of supplier quality and marketing. Companies like Solgar and Swanson have the legitimate vitamin and dietary supplement market pretty much locked up and it is difficult to see what a new startup would have to offer except a vehicle for some offshore vendor to make money at your risk and expense.
