Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Liability for Referrals?
I am getting out of a particular industry but people still call me and ask if they know which vendors would be suitable for their project. I want to help everyone and it's very easy for me to just give people names of vendors but in doing so could I be liable in anyway, even giving free advice? If so what should I say when they call? I do not want to say ''I would like to help you but I can not due to liability concerns''.

Re: Liability for Referrals?
The best thing to do is give them several names that you suggest they contact and they should pick the one they feel can best help them. That way you won't be liable for reccommending someone.
