Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Minors and contract
Our daughter at the age of 16 had a business relationship with a woman who was helping her with her career.Me and my wife had no idea of any agreements they had between themselves. Our daughter and this woman has now severed their relationship. It has now come to our attention that there are financial
setbacks that this woman has incurred. The legal question seems to be is our daughter legaly responsible for this womans financial loss if not are we as her parents responsible.
Thankyou

Re: Minors and contract
Your question cannot really be answered without a more detailed look at the "business relationship." In particular, we would need to look at what was done by each of the parties in the business, what documents were signed, what agreements they made with their customers, how tax issues were handled, etc. These are only a number of the issues that need to be explored. You and your daughter should immediately seek the advice of an attorney. There could be serious consequences here and you need to be prepared.
