Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
reimbursement for lost dry cleaning
The dry cleaner lost an entire lot of shirts (7) when they were sent offsite for pressing. He says he's liable for only 10x the cost of the cleaning (in this case $11 total per shirt). This of course will not cover replacing the shirts. Before I pick up the $77 he has offered, is there any additional recourse I have (besides speading the word on this bad business to my friends)?

Re: reimbursement for lost dry cleaning
On what basis is the cleaner claiming he is only liable for 10x the cost of the cleaning? Is this part of the terms of his service that was made available to you when you left the shirts with the cleaner?
If not, you may not need to accept the $77 offer, however there may be other elements of your situation that I am not aware of that may change my response.
