Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

I have a rent to own vehicle. I have never missed a payment. But the dealer keeps avoiding renewing my tags. my tags are 6 months old!! The kind of vehicle I have wont start unless the dealer gives me the code every two weeks. He does send the code. I work full time and cant afford to miss work. So not paying is sadly not a option. Its not fair that Im making ALL my payments but the dealer has me driving around illegally. What legal actions can I take? Oh also I think he's waiting for me to fully own the vehicle because I will in jun and its almost march,so I can register it. And its upsetting, what are my legal option and solutions.Please Help I have 4 kids and a job I need!!

You could go to the police. I happen to represent one of the dealers who is a defendant in a criminal case.
