Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
Signing for the ceo in his absence
My boss travels regularly, and there are times where a letter or document needs to be sent with his signature.
How do I legally sign for him in his absence?
Signing:
Jane Doe for John Doe?
John Doe with my initials?
Thank you for your help with this as this situation comes up often for me.

Re: Signing for the ceo in his absence
If he has given you authority (which you should have in writing from him), you can simply sign as Jane Doe for John Doe. I suggest that if he has not seen what you are sending, that this also be noted, using something like - Subject to review by John Doe.

Is your company public or federally regulated? There may be certain documents that your boss, as an officer of the company, may be required to sign.
