Sole Proprietorship Registration

what are legal requirements for registering Sole Proprietorship? I live in Middlesex county. I want to do business under a trade (company) name rather than my own. Do I need EIN or does SS# suffice?

Simply file a Certificate of Trade Name (should be available at Staples, Office Max, etc.) with the County Clerk. You only need a TIN if you will have employees.
