Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

I started my own landscaping business 18 months ago. However, I purchased the customers and equipment from a landscaping company that was dissolving. In the sale agreement, it states that any issues steming from work performed prior to 2010, was the responsibility of the owner who dissolved his company. An old customer of the previous company, ( was not a customer at the time of dissolution, so I did not purchase that customers account) has been making negative reports about my company, on Angie's list and Better Business Bureau. Is there anything I can do leagally to make that customer stop? That customer was told by the previous owner, that my company has nothing to do with their issue. The work was from 2005.
