Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

I work as a low level filmographer, I began working with some friends who "rap". After a part of the shoot they booted me. Recently they requested the footage I shot of them. I told them they would have to pay like all my clients for my work. They said they could legally confiscate the video, I'm just trying to protect my ass. Am I in the right to holding onto my own work?

It very possible that the footage could be considered partnership property which is likely what you guys formed when you came together in the first place by default. There are a number of facts to consider, so if this is of a serious concern, you really need to consult with a lawyer in private and figure out a best course of action.
